Kevin Durant played in 3 NBA Finals series as a member of the Warriors, but his latest appearance is most likely one he would rather forget. The All Star forwards missed match 6 of the semifinals of the Western Conference against the Rockets and four games of the Western Conference final against the Trail Blazers with a strained right calf. He made his return to the courtroom in the fifth game of the 2019 finals of the NBA against the Raptors and, regrettably, we all know how that story ends. Durant had 11 points in only 12 minutes to exit the game with Achilles injury.
Fans at Toronto's Scotiabank Arena cheered and clapped after he suffered the injury.
They had been quieted by players from the teams and the PA announcer, rapidly turning to KD chants as he was helped off the court. In an interview with Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports, Durant finally reunite at these cheering fans, despite saying he never discovered them. It'll likely be the last time they'll be in the final, Durant said. Durant was finally diagnosed with a ruptured Achilles, an accident likely to marginalize it for the entire 2019-20 season, along with the Raptors went on to win their first NBA championship in franchise history. Durant left Golden State in a free agency this summer, signing a 4 year deal with the Nets. While his Brooklyn debut will need to wait, this could possibly be the start of a brand new Eastern Conference rivalry.
